The design process starts with a site visit and in-depth consultation. This is an opportunity to explore your aspirations, lifestyle, and how you envision using the space. We take time to walk the garden with you, assess its existing character, and identify both opportunities and constraints.

Following our meeting, you will receive a written design brief outlining the stages of the design process, and a comprehensive summary of your goals for the space and the proposed fee structure.

With a clear brief in place, we move into developing the overall vision for your garden.

A detailed topographical survey is carried out to accurately capture the site’s layout, levels, and existing utilities. From this, we develop concept drawings in 2D and 3D, allowing you to clearly understand the proposed layout and flow of the garden.

Supporting mood boards are created to express the intended atmosphere. The emphasis is on layout and structure — defining how the space works before refining the finer details.

Once the concept design has been approved, we refine and expand into a comprehensive masterplan.

At this stage, the chosen layout is developed in greater detail. Spatial arrangements are clarified, levels are resolved, and hard landscaping material palettes proposed.

A planting palette is introduced to establish the overall mood and structure of the garden planting.

With the masterplan approved, the design progresses into detailed technical development.

Setting out plans define exact dimensions and positions, while level plans and cross sections resolve changes in height and structural relationships. Lighting layouts are coordinated to enhance both function and atmosphere.

Where required, detailed drawings are prepared for structural engineer review and sign-off.

Planting is where the garden truly comes to life.

The planting plan details the precise locations of all proposed plants. We carefully source all the plants, procure and inspect each plant before planting, and set out according to the planting plan.

We remain closely involved during this stage, planting up the gardens to achieve the desired atmosphere. This is also an opportunity to guide you through ongoing care, answer any maintenance questions, and provide continued support if required.

To ensure the design is delivered as intended, we can assist during the tender process, liaising with selected landscapers to clarify drawings, specifications, and scope of works.

Throughout the build, we offer on-site inspections to monitor progress and maintain design integrity — ensuring materials, detailing, and finishes reflect the intended aesthetic.

After the build we can continue caring and looking after your garden through various maintenance packages.
